Fawaz Haddad
Fawaz Haddad is a Syrian novelist born in Damascus. Since studying law at Damascus University and working in a variety of fields, he took on writing full-time in 1988. Since the publication of his first novel, Mosaic Damascus ’39, he has published 11 novels and a collection of short stories. In 2009, he was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction for The Unfaithful Translator. His novel, God’s Soldiers, was long-listed for the 2011 Prize.
