They stand, rocking back & forth in the wind

They stand, rocking back & forth in the wind
Mothers, each dressed in their own sun-grown hue
Who die for their children, the blossom fades
And they are forgotten with the seasons.
Here, winds have cast all the seeds on the rocks
The life-givers now empty, so empty
Silent, huddled in groups of twos or threes
The drops fall one by one from petal cheeks
Like flowers, comforting one another
In the rain.
