Jessica Brown is a native of Chicago, a former sports desk editor and designer, and a current full-time professor of multimedia journalism at Loyola University Chicago. She previously had opinion pieces published on Garnett News, Colorlines, and HuffPost, as a fellow with the Public Voices Project. The youngest of four children, Brown was raised by her single mother on the South Side of Chicago and is a homicide survivor, which informs her writing on death, loss, and living in the Midwest.
