Parker Thornton
Parker Thornton is a visual artist based in San Marcos, Texas. He studied art throughout high school and went to college for one year before leaving university in 2013 to pursue a career in photography – which became his primary focus for five years. During that period of time he was able to sharpen his eye and hone in on what inspired him the most. He began drawing again in May 2018 with the focus on creating abstract work that is centered around nature, geometry and minimalist design.
In describing his work Thornton states, “Achieving a sense of balance while keeping things minimal is always the goal. Through my artwork, I aim to find a balance between forms and elements found in nature paired with structured line and geometric shapes. My work is primarily abstract with bits of realism integrated into some pieces. Part of what keeps me inspired to draw is the concept of something being simple yet complex at the same time. It’s a common theme found throughout my current work and a concept I intend to continue exploring as my work evolves.”
