Alejandro Sobalvarro (he/him) is a fiction writer from Rockville, MD. He received a B.A. in English from New York University and is currently a candidate for an MFA in fiction at Texas State University.
What he’s looking for: I’m interested in work that challenges structures of power, whether through traditional or experimental forms. In fiction and creative nonfiction, I’m most interested in stories with either a strong, suspenseful narrative or a compelling formal conceit. In poetry, I admire work with a strong, assertive voice that remains grounded in our world.
Authors he admires: Octavia Butler, Kali Fajardo-Anstine, Claudia Rankine, Layli Long Soldier, Myriam Gurba.
